An international company based in South Africa that manufacture conveyor equipment for the local and international market asked us to help them the automation of the compressor equipment in their plant.
Their major concern was that the compressed air units did not start automatically after a power failure when their secondary energy supply kicked in, and this resulted in production losses as their plant relies on a minimum pressure to keep production lines flowing.
To resolve the problem, we fitted a system that monitors the incoming power supply. Once the secondary power source kicks in the system sends a start pulse to the compressors causing them to start up within seconds of receiving the signal.
This resulted in zero production losses during load shedding as the compressed air remained above 6 bar in their plant at all times.
